Veteran Tamil music composer Deva passed away due to sudden health issues in Chennai on October 17. His death has led to an outpouring of grief among fans and the film industry. Deva was admired for his contributions to Tamil cinema and gaana music. He was recently in the news for praising Hiphop Tamizha Adhi's work in 'Meesaya Murukku 2.
Deva’s music bridged seemingly disparate worlds — the earthy rhythms of Chennai’s gaana tradition, the mass appeal of Tamil cinema, and the melodic richness of classical and devotional music
In a statement on social media, CM Vijay said that Deva “captivated the hearts of the common people with his folk songs.”
Despite Deva’s songs becoming chartbusters, it caused him immense grief that the very listeners celebrating those tracks never realised that he was the composer behind them
