The child rights body has extended the deadline for Meta to respond to its notice until August 6 after the company sought more time
NCPCR launches an inquiry into alleged CSEAM advertisements on Meta platforms after the BBC Eye report and the company's response.
The NCPCR has initiated a formal investigation following alarming claims from a BBC report which suggested that advertisements on Meta’s platforms like Instagram were linked to the promotion of child abuse material. In response, the child rights organization has demanded clarity from Meta Platforms Inc. Furthermore, the NHRC has instructed the Delhi Police to look into these troubling assertions, as both entities scrutinize Meta's adherence to child protection regulations.
It was also reported that the advertisements had “passed through Meta's review mechanism and remained accessible” despite being reported through its grievance mechanism, until specifically brought to Meta's notice by the BBC
