LPG tanker with 28 Indians aboard attacked in Iran waters, all crew safe
The Embassy of India confirmed that the LPG tanker called DISHA was attacked earlier in the day today
MV Omorfi was attacked while transiting the Black Sea, reportedly in Russian territorial waters, on July 18, the external affairs ministry said in a statement.
“The Embassy has been in close contact with the relevant authorities and has confirmed that all Indian crew members are safe,” the Indian Embassy said in a statement posted on X.
Iran's foreign ministry said the attack caused the ship to explode.
Speaking at an open debate of the United Nations security council on the situation in the Middle East, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, said the recent escalation after a brief lull in fighting was deeply worrying. He urged all sides to return to dialogue and diplomacy to prevent the conflict from worsening.
